reason? i'm a pragmatist. i dig my fostex fr2 but it bugs people that they have to, like, work with sticks and sync dailies and stuff. that's just so 20th century, man.

with the 302 i can give them what they want. and maybe they'll start paying .....

sfunny, i started off considering a second-hand ASC Minx, then the sign video ENG-44, then the SD MixPre (and a whole lot of things inbetween though I couldn't find Wendt anywhere) then just thought - screw it! Sound Devices is it. even drunk I wouldn't recover from seeing the price of the 442 .....

those preamps had better be worth the money! gulp

You bought well. I considered buying the 442 but decided to try the ENG-44 first as I don't do that much field recording.

Once I upgrade to HD I will bite the bullet and shell out for the 442.

However, don't be under any illusion that ordinary film and TV cheapskates will now start paying. I'll be surprised if they ever heard of Sound Devices, let alone being able to tell a 302 apart from a signvideo ENG-44. Just stop working for free - you seem to have the experience (and now definitely the gear) to charge for your services.

i feel i have the experience but not quite the network yet (day job keeps getting in the way, but without the day job i would not have this gear or a rof over my head ....)

i have to tread carefully. mouths to feed n all that.
